However, you see a weird smile in the opponent's smile-as if he was mocking you. With a great sense of relief, you order Terrakion to enhance its fighting skills once more. The deadly seeds are fired of the Pokemon's vines, but it is blown away by the wind and battered out of sight due to the endless rain. Luckily, the opponent's Ferrothorn seems to have no direct attacks, and it uses Leech Seed. Realizing that the only hope of winning is to enhance the Terrakion's attack stat to +4, you order it to use Swords Dance. ![]() ![]() We appear to have reached an understanding that high ability and learning problems can both be present in the same individual. Several books have been written on the subject, numerous articles have appeared in journals, and most educational conferences focusing on either learning disabilities or giftedness include at least one presentation on the dual exceptionality. In recent years, the concept of giftedness and learning disabilities occurring concomitantly in the same individual has become commonly accepted. The colloquium did much to establish students who are gifted but also have learning disabilities as a population with special characteristics and needs (Fox, Brody, & Tobin, 1983). The participants agreed that students who are gifted and also have learning disabilities do, in fact, exist but are often overlooked when students are assessed for either giftedness or learning disabilities. At the time, interest in meeting the needs of gifted and talented students, as well as students with learning disabilities, was evident on many levels, but students who exhibited the characteristics of both exceptionalities had received scant notice. In 1981, a colloquium held at The Johns Hopkins University convened experts from the fields of both learning disabilities and giftedness to consider this issue. How could a child be considered gifted who has serious enough learning problems to be characterized as having a learning disability? The stereotype that had prevailed since Terman’s (1925) time was that gifted children score uniformly high on intelligence tests and perform well in school. When educators first began describing children who showed evidence of having a learning disability (LD) yet also appeared to be gifted, many viewed this as contradictory. Recommendations are included that would help ensure that students who are gifted and have learning disabilities receive the intervention needed to help them achieve their full potential. ![]() This article explores the current policies and practices with regard to defining, identifying, and educating this population. ![]() ![]() ![]() Includes 41 items: Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, Killing Floor - Outbreak Character Pack, Killing Floor - Nightfall Character Pack, Killing Floor PostMortem Character Pack, The Ball, Killing Floor - "London's Finest" DLC Character pack, Dwarfs!?, Killing Floor - Steampunk Character Pack, Killing Floor Steampunk Character Pack 2, Killing Floor - Urban Nightmare Character Pack, Killing Floor - Harold Lott Character Pack, Killing Floor - Ash Harding Character Pack, Killing Floor - Community Weapon Pack, Killing Floor - The Chickenator Pack, Killing Floor - Robot Premium DLC Character, Killing Floor - Golden Weapons Pack, Rising Storm, Killing Floor - Mrs Foster Pack, Killing Floor - Community Weapon Pack 2, Killing Floor - Golden Weapon Pack 2, Killing Floor - Reggie the Rocker Character Pack, Killing Floor - Community Weapons Pack 3 - Us Versus Them Total Conflict Pack, Killing Floor - Camo Weapon Pack, Road Redemption, Killing Floor - Neon Character Pack, Killing Floor - Neon Weapon Pack, Killing Floor 2, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade, Killing Floor: Incursion, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Pulling Rank Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Personalized Touch Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Uncle Ho's Heroes Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Born in the USA Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Man Down Under Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Rear Echelon Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Southern Style Cosmetic DLC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Homeland Security Cosmetic DLC, RS2 Vietnam - Sgt Joe's Support Bundle, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam - Specialist Pack DLC, Killing Floor (New) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Whether you’re looking for a PDF reader, viewer, or converter, Adobe Reader download is often the first choice. Later transistors were made from silicon, a much more common element and one that was protected from corrosion by a thin layer of silicon dioxide. ![]() Shockley’s design, the bipolar transistor, eliminated the delicate, troublesome point contacts. They also used the equivalent of cat’s whiskers, but two rather than one. Bardeen and Brattain used germanium instead of galena in that first transistor. Nevertheless, the principle upon which the crystal detector worked was the basis for the “point-contact” transistor. These early radios worked but only imperfectly. The radio user had to move the cat’s whisker around upon the germanium crystal to find a suitable point of contact where a radio signal could be picked up. The early radios had signal detectors which consisted of a fine wire, called a cat’s whisker, impinging upon a galena (lead sulfide) crystal. There was precedent for this type of device. Shockley had started working in 1936 on the solid-state physics theory that was the basis for the transistor. When he completed his doctorate, specializing in quantum physics, he went to work for Bell Labs. William Shockley was raised in Palo Alto and did his undergraduate work at the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech) in Pasadena and went on for his Ph.D. Thus the transistor was, in large part, Shockley’s creation. Shockley subsequently designed a new type of transistor called the “bipolar” transistor which was superior to the point-contact type and replaced it. What Bardeen and Brattain had created was the “point-contact” transistor. Shockley, as their supervisor, shared in the glory. Bardeen and Brattain were called in to handle the engineering and development, which they did in the relatively short time of two years, to the consternation of Shockley. While he could work out the theory successfully but after eight years of trying he could not build a working model. Shockley had been working on the theory of such a device for more than ten years. William Shockley played a quite different role in the invention than the other two. To be fair, these changes should in theory not cause any compatibility issues, because they only affect undocumented classes and assumptions that were never guaranteed to be true in future Java versions. ATLauncher's code used undocumented classes as well as the class loader hack. This is an issue because a very popular hack to extend the classpath at runtime assumes that the default class loader is a URLClassLoader. This is based on the (also new) module system, which required some changes to class loading, which resulted in the default class loader no longer being a URLClassLoader. Would it be a big issue to just package the launcher's libraries in the jar? This would remove the need for any classpath The main breaking change is that use of com.sun.* and sun.* classes is now disallowed completely, as opposed to being just bad practice. It seems overkill though to have two Java processes for the launcher alone. One option would be to make a small main class that downloads the necessary libraries, and then starts a Java subprocess for the main launcher code and sets the classpath correctly on the command line. Sadly all workarounds that I could think of are more complicated than they should be. That doesn't work though, because the custom URLClassLoader uses the system class loader to load the App class, so App's class loader is still the system class loader and not the custom one. I've tried to get around this by making a new URLClassLoader and using that to load the main App class. This was the case up until Java 8, but in Java 9 the system class loader is no longer an URLClassLoader and the old hack doesn't work anymore. Currently the launcher downloads some libraries at runtime and adds them to the classpath, using a hack that only works when the system class loader is an URLClassLoader. I've done some testing, and ran into a new issue. ![]() I'm currently working on the Java 6 source compatibility in my fork and will probably make a PR for that soon. There are some odd cases which compile with JDK 8 and run on Java 6 but don't compile on JDK 9 in Java 6 mode (like JComboBox which was generified in Java 7). This means that the launcher code has to be fully compatible with the earliest Java we want to support, at the source level. JDK 9 now has data on what features the Java libraries supported in earlier JDK versions.I know at least one place where ATLauncher uses an undocumented class (which is to get the total system RAM to display it in the log), but there may be more. Almost all of the undocumented sun and com.sun classes cannot be used anymore - they are intentionally not part of any public module. This shouldn't be too complicated to fix, we just need to add a module-info.java and list the necessary AWT/Swing/etc. You now have to declare which parts of the Java libraries you want to use, beyond core language classes. I've looked into this a little, and the biggest issues I've noticed so far are: Still a while to go, but there are early-access builds already, and it may be good to get the launcher Java 9-ready early, since there are some likely problematic changes. JDK 9 is scheduled to come out at the end of July 2017. ![]() |
